Hiruzen Yakisoba-Lovers Meeting

Introduction of the Enrolled Organizations

Local volunteer citizens formed the inspiring community group started in 2000 to promote the Hiruzen Plateau in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture. Regarding vigor, motivation, and “Omotenashi(hospitality)” as the first things, we are developing community-based activities.
“Hiruzen Yakisoba(stir-fried noodles)” has been popular since around 1955 at the Hiruzen area. They grill chicken (the more you chew, the more the flavor comes out) and stir it with highland cabbage and chewy noodles with a rich, aromatic sweet-spicy sauce in a short time on high heat. Once you taste it, you will always remember this traditional local dish.

Introduction of the Cities and Towns

The Hiruzen area is one of the representative plateau resort areas in Okayama Prefecture. Located almost in the center of the Chugoku Mountains on the border with Tottori Prefecture, visitors can enjoy nature throughout the four seasons: flowers in spring, forest bathing, outdoor recreation in summer, colored leaves in fall, and winter sports. Dairy products made from Jersey milk, known as the Purveyor to the British Royal Household, wine and juice made from rare mountain grapes, and plateau vegetables such as Hiruzen daikon radish are also well-known as local specialties.
