Meiho Keichan Study Workshop

Introduction of the Enrolled Organizations

For 16 years since its establishment, the Study Workshop has engaged in community activities for sixteen years to encourage the Meiho district in Gujyo City. “Keichan” is a local cuisine; bite-sized pieces of chicken marinated in soy sauce, miso, garlic, ginger, and red pepper and fried with seasonal vegetables. It has been popular among the residents since around 1955 in Gujo and Gero in Gifu Prefecture, the mountainous areas. While Meiho has 1400 inhabitants, even eighteen businesses deal with Keichan! Our passion for Keichan is stronger than any places else, and this feeling makes us introduce ourselves as “The Village of Keichan” even though we have no authority over municipality names. We are doing our best to promote the charms of Meiho!
