Imabari Yakibuta Tamagomeshi World Promotion Committee

Introduction of the Enrolled Organizations

The sacred place for cyclists worldwide, “Setouchi Shimanami Cycling Road,” is in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, in Shikoku Island. The beautiful views created by the inland sea, islands, and straits are called “Tatoubi(the beauty of many islands).” The rapid tides of Kurushima Strait flow into this area, contrasting with the calm atmosphere of “Tatoubi.” The Murakami Pirates controlled this area during the Sengoku (warring states) period. Whether the locals are their genes or not, many people in Imabari are hasty. The soul dish, “Yakibuta Tamago Meshi(braised pork and a fried egg on rice with a salty-sweet sauce),” is good for the nature Imabari people. We aim to upgrade this dish to a worldwide common food.

Introduction of the Cities and Towns

Imabari City is in the northeastern part of Ehime Prefecture. It consists of a land area occupying the eastern half of the Takanawa Peninsula, which protrudes almost to the center of the Seto Inland Sea, and an island area occupying the southern half of the Geyo Islands. The geographical features of the site are highly varied: from the plains, where the city center is located against a backdrop of lush green mountainous areas, to the blue sea, which boasts of the world’s greatest beauty of the many islands.
